Mark has worked as a butcher, chef, and homemaker, but has always had a love of art, painting and creation even from an early age. However,it was not until he became a single male parent that he was able to realise his lifelong dream.
Today he lives and works as an artist of dramatic, colourful paintings that are predominantly modern and abstract in nature. His work is often described as interesting, varied and diverse. For Mark, modern or abstract art is in essence, an exploration of the essence of humanity itself.
As an artist, he is illustrating an emotional world, in a visual sense, seeking to describe feelings, events or emotions in a way that is easy to relate to, rather than just painting the world around us that traditional or contemporary art seeks to portray.
Mark believes that painting is like putting together the notes in music, the rifts, cords and melodies all combined in colour, texture and shape, to create the harmonies, energy and balance that bring a painting to life. This is especially true in appreciating modern abstract artwork, which is in essence the raw power of emotion and ideas that spring from the human state, filling our world with image, colour and excitement.
